Telling the Time
The progression for learning how to
tell the time is as follows:
Start
with the hour, move to the half-hour, then the quarter hour and
then intervals
of 5 and 10 minutes.
The clock has two hands.
The long hand is the minute hand and the short hand is the hour hand.
There are 12 numbers placed around the
face of the clock. Each number stands
for a certain number of minutes past the hour.
If you know how to count by 5’s then
you know how to figure out how many
minutes past the hour it is.
When the minute hand is on the 2, that means that it is
10 minutes past the hour. 10:10
